REC PARK: The Recreation Park is located on Highway 20, west of U.S. 301. The park features baseball, softball, teeball, football, and soccer fields. Two fields currently have lighting for games, with more light installations planned in the hear future. The park also has a concession stand that is open during games and tournaments. See below for information on sports leagues. The leagues are always looking for volunteer coaches, umpires, and concession workers. Call Jay Paulson for more information on volunteering.
GAINESVILLE-HAWTHORNE TRAIL: The Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail State Park stretches 16 miles from the City of Gainesville's Boulware Springs Park through the Payne's Prairie Preserve State Park and the Lochloosa Wildlife Management Area. As such, it takes you through some of the finest natural areas in north central Florida. It is wooded and quiet even though it travels close to busy highways and country raods. The entire trail is a pleasure to ride, and there are even a few hills to climb and spped down. The connection to La Chua trail offers the opportunity to see bison, wild horses, and sandhill cranes.
